Hey Everyone! Welcome to my blog! I’m Andrea, I’m a mom of 2 lovely girls and an Interior Designer. On my blogs I like to give helpful design tips, design inspirations and DIY and a look at my recent projects.
In my previous blog about Do you know what farmhouse style you are I mentioned a few farmhouse styles. If you have not read my last blog and want to do so here is the link. Do-you-know-which-farmhouse-style-you-are?
The refined traditional farmhouse style is a classic and timeless look with the mix of traditional and country meet together. This style can be influenced by both old meet new. For instance, When designing this look you will see fabrics and area rugs from natural fibers like burlap, sisal and jute being used a more neutral color look. Furniture with curved and tufted upholstery and also some antique furniture being used. Tables and consoles that use reclaimed wood and metal. The refined farmhouse style furniture pieces has some antique influences with added modern touches.
In the architectural structure you can see exposed beams and white wash brick and also a favorite to some,“ship-lap”. I know its a love hate material. Some people love it and some don’t. I believe If done right like using it on an accent wall or fireplace and not on the whole room it looks quite lovely.
Lastly, you will finish up with accessories. For example: candlestick, mirrors, clocks, scales, plants, trays and pottery etc. When choosing an accessory pick things that you like. Design tip: use in groups by odd numbers. Scale from height, filler and weight. ” I will show you in my next few blogs on how to do just that”. Stay Tuned!
