DESIGN TIP: AREA RUG PLACEMENT

Area rugs are one of the easiest ways to transform a space—but only if they’re placed correctly. The right rug can anchor your furniture, define zones, and bring warmth and balance to your home. Here are simple, designer-approved tips to get it right every time. Your Living Room rug should connect your furniture, not sit awkwardly in the middle. The three golden layouts: All legs on: The most polished look—every piece sits fully on the rug Front legs on: A balanced, everyday designer approach Avoid floating rugs: A small rug centered alone breaks up the room visually Jade & Sage Tip: When in doubt, go bigger. A larger rug makes your space feel more open, not smaller. A Dining Room rug should make your space feel effortless—not frustrating. What to get right: Leave at least 24 inches around your table Chairs should stay on the rug—even when pulled out Match the shape of your rug to your table Jade & Sage Tip: Choose low-pile or flatweave rugs for easy cleaning and smooth chair movement. Stepping onto a soft rug in the morning? That’s a small luxury that changes everything in your bedroom. Best placements: 2/3 under the bed: Starts under the bed and extends outward Full coverage: Bed and nightstands sit fully on the rug Side runners: Perfect for smaller budgets or tighter spaces Jade & Sage Tip: Aim for 18–24 inches of rug on each side of the bed for balance and comfort. Your entryway is your home’s introduction—make it count. Simple rules: Choose a rug that fits the scale (not too small) Leave visible flooring around the edges Layer a doormat for added texture and style Jade & Sage Tip: Go for durable, natural materials that can handle everyday traffic. Final Thoughts If your room feels unfinished, start from the ground up. The right rug, placed the right way, will: Make your space feel larger Bring your furniture together Add warmth and comfort instantly And most importantly—it will make your house feel like home. SEE WHAT’S TRENDING 2026 HOME DECOR TRENDS

Every year, the interior design and fashion industries come together to forecast what will define the year ahead. Soon enough, you start seeing the same styles, color palettes, and overall “vibe” everywhere you look. I’ll be honest—I don’t typically chase trends. Especially the ones that feel over-the-top, burn out quickly, and leave you feeling like you need to redesign your home all over again a year later. That cycle can get expensive fast. Instead, I gravitate toward a more classic, timeless approach—one that evolves naturally and continues to feel relevant year after year. That said… I have to admit, I’m really loving the direction this year’s trends are taking. So let’s break it down. The Vibe This Year This year is all about personal expression and nostalgia. Consumers are leaning into spaces that feel comforting, authentic, and grounded. There’s a strong pull toward natural, organic elements—designs that feel lived-in, meaningful, and connected to nature rather than overly styled. via Healthier Homes 1. Natural Elements Are Leading the Way We’re seeing a renewed love for materials like: Real wood and raw textures Medium oak and warm walnut tones Natural stone Organic cotton and linen fabrics These elements bring warmth, depth, and a sense of calm into the home—without feeling trendy or forced. via Healthier Homes A Shift Toward Health & Sustainability Homeowners are also becoming more educated and intentional about what they bring into their spaces—not just for style, but for well-being and environmental impact. This includes: Natural and non-toxic wall treatments Raw and responsibly sourced wood Organic, breathable fabrics Low-VOC paints A greater focus on indoor air quality Design is no longer just about how a space looks—it’s about how it feels to live in it. via Lulu and Georgia 2. Warm Neutrals This year, we’re moving away from stark whites and cool grays and embracing warm, inviting neutrals. Think earthy browns, soft taupes, warm beiges, and gently muted tones. These colors create depth and comfort, making spaces feel cozy, grounded, and timeless rather than sterile or trendy. 3. Curated Maximalism The phrase “more is more” is making a comeback—but with intention. Curated maximalism isn’t about clutter; it’s about thoughtful layering. Every piece has purpose and meaning, whether it’s collected over time, passed down, or simply loved.Expect layered textures, bold yet balanced colors, vintage accents, and personal objects that tell a story. The result is a space that feels rich, expressive, and deeply lived-in—full of nostalgia without feeling overwhelming. 4. Vintage Revival Vintage is back… though truthfully, it never really left. What’s different now is the modern twist. We’re seeing vintage elements thoughtfully mixed with contemporary design to create spaces that feel both fresh and familiar.Caned furniture is returning with cleaner lines and a modern edge. Checkerboard floors, handmade pieces, and richly textured materials are reappearing, adding charm, character, and authenticity to interiors that celebrate craftsmanship and history. These styles are definitely my style. Natural elements, comfort, cozy and mindful curated decor and design. How about you? Design Tip: Working with Odd numbers in designing

When designing your home and your trying to create a complete finished look. One very important rule to follow is work with odd numbers. Create on fireplace mantles, tables, console table and night stands with the rule of odd number room. Here are a few reasons on why its important and how to apply it to your decorating. 1. Understand the Rule of Three Odd numbers—especially 3, 5, or 7—tend to look more natural and visually interesting. Our eyes move more dynamically over an odd-numbered grouping. It avoids the overly balanced, sometimes “stiff” look that even numbers can create. 2. Create a Visual Triangle When styling three items, arrange them so they form a triangle. This adds height variation and makes the grouping feel intentional. How to do it: Use one taller object (lamp, vase, sculpture) Add one medium-height object (small plant, candle holder) Add one low or wide object (tray, book stack, bowl) This creates a balanced yet organic feel. 3. Mix Heights, Shapes, and Textures Odd groupings work best when each item offers something different: Height: tall + medium + short Shape: round + angular + organic Texture: smooth + rough + woven This contrast prevents the group from feeling repetitive or cluttered. 4. Keep a Common Thread Variety is key—but the group should still relate. Tie objects together using at least one shared element, such as: Color palette Material (wood, ceramic, metal, glass) Style (rustic, modern, coastal) This creates unity without uniformity. 5. Use an Anchor A tray, book stack, or cutting board (for kitchen styling) helps: Contain the grouping Make it feel cohesive Add another layer of visual interest This works especially well for coffee tables, consoles, and kitchen counters. 6. Apply the “Small, Medium, Large” Formula This simple formula makes any odd-number grouping look styled, not random: Large: the anchor or focal point Medium: the supporting piece Small: the accent or detail This ensures flow and hierarchy. 7. Scale Matters Use odd groupings relative to the space: Small surfaces (nightstands, side tables): 3 items Medium surfaces (dressers, consoles): 3 or 5 items Large areas (mantels, shelves, dining tables): 5 or 7 items The bigger the surface, the more objects you can use without looking cluttered. 8. Step Back and Edit With odd-number groupings, less can still be more. After styling: Step back a few feet Check for visual balance Remove anything that feels unnecessary Your eye will naturally tell you if something looks off. If you want, I can also create a visual guide. Check out my Virtual Design services. HERE
Key Aesthetics for a Zen Bedroom

One room I feel we often overlook is the bedroom, but it is one of the most important spaces in the home. It is where we rest, recharge, and spend a large portion of our time. Because of that, your bedroom should feel calm, peaceful, and comforting. A cluttered space can make it harder to truly relax, but when your bedroom is clean, organized, and thoughtfully designed, it creates a sense of peace the moment you walk in. Soft colors, cozy textures, simple décor, and a clutter-free layout can all help create that Zen appeal — turning your bedroom into a restful retreat you actually look forward to spending time in. “Your bedroom should not just be where you sleep — it should be where you breathe, reset, and feel at peace.” BED/CHAIR/DRESSER/RUG/WALLPAPER/NIGHTSTAND/ARTWORK/BEDSHEETS/JADE PLANT/STORAGE BOXES/ PILLOW/ GREEN PILLOW/ BLUE PILLOW For a bedroom to feel calm, peaceful, and Zen, the overall design should feel simple, soft, natural, and uncluttered. The goal is to create a space that helps your body relax the moment you walk in. Key aesthetics for a Zen bedroom: 1. Soft neutral colorsUse warm whites, beige, taupe, soft gray, muted greens, clay, or light wood tones. Avoid harsh bright colors that feel too energetic. 2. Natural materialsBring in wood, linen, cotton, rattan, bamboo, stone, clay, and woven textures. These make the room feel grounded and organic. 3. Minimal clutterA Zen bedroom should feel open and breathable. Keep nightstands simple, hide cords, use closed storage, and only display items that feel calming or meaningful. 4. Soft layered beddingUse breathable bedding with a relaxed look: linen duvet, cotton sheets, soft throw blanket, and a few simple pillows. Think cozy, not overdone. 5. Gentle lightingAvoid harsh overhead lighting. Use warm lamps, sconces, candles, or dimmable lighting to create a soft evening glow. 6. Balanced furniture layoutKeep the room easy to move through. A centered bed, matching or balanced nightstands, and clear walkways help the room feel calm and intentional. 7. Nature-inspired decorAdd plants, simple branches, landscape art, pottery, or a small water-inspired element. Nature helps create that peaceful retreat feeling. 8. Quiet textures instead of busy patternsUse texture for interest rather than loud prints. Think woven baskets, linen curtains, boucle, wood grain, or a soft area rug. “A Zen bedroom is all about creating a peaceful retreat through soft neutral colors, natural materials, gentle lighting, and minimal clutter. The design should feel calm, balanced, and intentional, allowing the space to feel restful, grounded, and inviting.” BED/CHAIR/DRESSER/RUG/WINDOW TREATMENT /BEDSHEETS/JADE PLANT/STORAGE BOWL/ PILLOW/ BLUE PILLOW This blog contains affiliate links. there is no cost to you. How to style with Throw Pillows | Designer Finds

Hey everyone! One of my favorite décor items to shop for is throw pillows. They are such a simple yet beautiful way to refresh a space. Pillows can bring in pops of color, gorgeous textures, pattern, and visual interest, helping a room feel more styled and complete. Want a quick redesign without changing your furniture? Simply swap out your pillows. You can create a whole new look from season to season by changing the colors, fabrics, and patterns. Design Tip: Keep your larger furniture pieces, such as your sofa, in a neutral palette. This makes it much easier to change out your decorative accents over time and refresh your space without having to start from scratch. Selecting your pillows Steps Step-by-Step Guide to Designing with Throw Pillows Throw pillows are one of the easiest ways to make a room feel finished, styled, and cozy. They add color, texture, comfort, and personality without having to redesign the whole space. Step 1: Start with the Room’s Color Palette Before choosing pillows, look at the colors already in the room. Pull colors from: Area rug Artwork Curtains Accent chairs Wood tones Wall color Décor pieces A good rule is to choose 2–3 main pillow colors that connect back to the room. This keeps everything looking intentional instead of random. Example:If your room has beige walls, a navy rug, and warm wood furniture, you could use pillows in cream, navy, rust, and soft tan. Step 2: Mix Pillow Sizes Using all the same size can look flat. Layering different sizes gives the sofa, bed, or chair more depth. For a sofa, try: 22×22 pillows in the back 20×20 pillows in the middle One lumbar pillow in front For a bed, try: Larger pillows in the back Medium decorative pillows in front One long lumbar pillow across the front This creates a designer-style layered look. Step 3: Mix Patterns Carefully Patterns make pillows interesting, but too many can feel busy. A simple formula: One large pattern + one small pattern + one solid Example: Large floral pillow Small stripe pillow Solid velvet or linen pillow You can also mix: Stripes Florals Plaid Geometric prints Vintage-inspired patterns The key is making sure they share similar colors. Step 4: Add Texture Texture is what makes pillows feel cozy and high-end. Try mixing materials like: Linen Velvet Bouclé Cotton Woven fabric Faux leather Knitted textures Fringe or tassels Even if you stay neutral, texture keeps the design from looking boring. Example:Cream linen + beige boucle + tan leather + woven stripe looks calm but still interesting. Step 5: Use Odd Numbers for a Relaxed Look Odd numbers usually feel more natural and less stiff. For a sofa: Small loveseat: 3 pillows Standard sofa: 5 pillows Large sectional: 7 or more pillows For a more formal look, use even numbers and keep both sides balanced. Step 6: Think About Shape Not every pillow has to be square. Use a mix of: Square pillows Lumbar pillows Round pillows Bolster pillows A lumbar pillow is especially helpful because it breaks up all the square shapes and makes the design feel more custom. Step 7: Balance Both Sides Your pillows do not have to match exactly, but they should feel balanced. For example, one side of the sofa could have: Large solid pillow Patterned pillow Small lumbar The other side could have: Large textured pillow Coordinating pattern pillow They are different, but the colors and sizes still work together. Step 8: Don’t Overcrowd the Furniture Pillows should make the space comfortable, not make people feel like they have nowhere to sit. A good test:Can someone sit down without removing every pillow? If not, there may be too many. Step 9: Choose the Right Inserts This is one of the biggest designer tricks. Use pillow inserts that are 1–2 inches larger than the pillow cover. Example: 20×20 cover → use a 22×22 insert 22×22 cover → use a 24×24 insert This makes the pillows look fuller and more luxurious. Step 10: Style Them Naturally You can do the classic “karate chop” in the center of larger pillows, but don’t overdo it. Let the pillows look soft, comfortable, and lived-in. For a cozy home look, slightly angle the pillows instead of lining them up perfectly straight. Easy Designer Pillow Formula For a sofa: 2 large solid pillows + 2 patterned pillows + 1 lumbar pillow For a bed: 2 large pillows + 2 medium pillows + 1 long lumbar pillow For an accent chair: 1 beautiful pillow or 1 lumbar pillow Final Design Tip Throw pillows should feel like they belong in the room, not like they were added at the last second. Repeat colors, mix textures, vary sizes, and keep the overall feeling comfortable and practical. That is what gives a space that styled, designer-finished look. How to Style a Night Stand

Hey everyone! I’m glad your here. A little bit about me, I’m Andrea and I’m an Interior Designer, I’m a wife and a mom to 2 wonderful girls. They are the main reason I went into the journey as as E-Designer. I’m able to do what I love which is design and still be a mom and do mom stuff. When decorating your room styling the top of furniture pieces like a night stand, console table and even your dresser are important and need to be addressed. Selecting just a few mindful pieces will bring that furniture piece from being boring into looking more put together. Here are a few steps 1. Lighting Great options for lighting are lamps, sconces and pendants. You don’t want just one type of light fixture which is always that ceiling fixture in the center of the room. Having different lighting sources in your room will give your room a warmth and not feeling stark. 2. Box or Tray A decorative box, bowl or tray are great dropping zone pieces. You can put your lotions, chap sticks, nail clippers and jewelry etc. 3. Height A great way to add height into that space is Artwork or a mirror hanging on the wall. This allows texture, height and color to that area. 4. Final touches The final touches are on how you accessories your night stand. For Instance, some options to consider are a plant, picture frame, a organic shape object. Bring in some sparkle with materials like metals and glass. Just keep in mind of height and size. Don’t over crowd the space. Select a few mindful objects. I suggest a lamp, something for the wall like artwork or mirror, a drop zone and if you have the space add something from nature.
