Hi everyone! I’m so excited that you are here.  What I have for you today is ” How to style a Shelf Unit”. You have a floating shelf or a built- in  unit and your feeling quite lost in how to style it.

Here are few steps to keep in mind and that would help you to create a look like an Interior Designer has styled it.

1. Select a color and similar colors

Select a color palette. Pick an overall color and repeat it multiple times. Also, select other materials like a metal and wood finishes. Selecting a color helps pull your shelf together with your room.

How to select your colors and finishes? The easiest way to select your colors is by using the colors that are in your room already.

I had the opportunity to meet  a wonderful boss mom entrepreneur that creates personalized books. I came across her Facebook page. I absolutely love these and the concept.  Looking for something unique? Jennifer creates  personalized books for your shelves displays.  She creates stacked book sets “farmhouse style” that are stamped with whatever saying you choose!

2. Play with varies of heights and placements

How to play with heights is by bringing in different elements like books, vases, storage boxes, artwork and small and large objects.  Group them in odd number of objects.  Layer books horizontally and some vertically. For this will bring interest.  Choose large objects  as your anchor item and then add a medium and small object together.

Tip: Don’t over clutter your shelf unit.  Select a few pictures, vases, and filler objects. Select a color and material for instance a metal or wood tone.

3. Personalized your shelf

I suggest make it personalized. Creating a place that shares beautiful memories like a vacation that you’ve been on with family or an object that means a lot to you because it been in your family for generations.  How to incorporate these items in your design?  If you have a photo of your family? Frame it with alike material is being used on your shelf.

Tip: Don’t over clutter your shelf unit.  Select a few pictures, vases, and filler objects. Select a color and material for instance a metal or wood tone.

There you have it. Here are a few steps to follow when styling your shelf.
